NOTICE TO ALL OUR VALUED BUSINESS PARTNERS and EXPORTERS to the U.S.A

All Containers in transit to the U.S. will require High-Security Bolt Seals

Dear Valued Customer;

As you may or may not be aware, as of the 15thof October 2008, the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will require all containers into United States ports to be secured with a High-Security bolt seal that is ISO/PAS 17712 compliant.

It is the responsibility of all importers/exporters to ensure that their containers are sealed in accordance with the new regulations.

CBP will insist on the ISO/PAS 17712 (International Organization for Standardization Publicly Available Specification 17712) container seal standard until it completes regulations establishing minimum standards and procedures for securing containers.

The ISO/PAS 17712 requires container seals to meet or exceed certain standards for strength and durability to prevent breakage or deterioration during ocean transits. The standard also requires that each seal be clearly and legibly marked with a unique identification number.

A High-Security seal is defined in ISO/PAS 17712 as a “seal constructed and manufactured of material such as a metal cable with the intent to delay intrusion……”  - in general this seal must be removed with quality bolt cutters.

SECURITY SEALS LIMITED (New Zealand) continues as industry leaders to supply the largest range tamper evident sealing devices including bolt seals that are ISO/PAS 17712 compliant.
